PIVOT CHARTER SCHOOL NORTH
BAY PARTNERS OFFERS CIVIL AIR PATROL PROGRAM
Jan. 11 Information
Session Planned for Prospective Students
SANTA ROSA, Calif. - Pivot Charter School, North Bay, a
full-time online public school, announced today that it is
launching a program that lets students earn elective credits while
developing leadership skills and learning about aviation through
the U.S. Air Force's Civil Air Patrol auxiliary. The school
has scheduled a local information session Jan. 11 to help
prospective students and parents learn more during the open
enrollment period for the spring 2012 semester. The
information session will be held at 6 p.m. at 950 South Wright Road
in Santa Rosa.
"At Pivot, we continue to expand our offerings through the
addition of innovative programs that will positively impact the
lives of our students," said Jayna Gaskell, Pivot Online Charter
Schools executive director. "Our new Civil Air Patrol option
represents a unique opportunity for North Bay middle and high
school students to develop lifelong skills through a well-known
national program."
The optional Civil Air Patrol program complements the Pivot's
online curriculum and offers students the chance to develop
leadership skills; learn about astronomy, aeronautics and search
and rescue; and serve the community. The hands-on program is
taught by professional pilots, Air Force veterans and advanced
Civil Air Patrol cadets. Students participate in field trips
during which they apply their new skills in real-life settings.
"The Civil Air Patrol is one of the best-kept secrets among
youth programs," said Maj. Anthony Hamill, U.S. Air Force Auxiliary
Civil Air Patrol. "Civil Air Patrol helps students master
skills that are essential to success in the classroom and the
workplace. It is truly a fantastic program, and we are
thrilled to reach more area students through our partnership with
Pivot Online Charter School."
