Is the Washington Online School Network accredited?
The Washington Online School Network (WOSN) is a program offered by public school districts across Washington and online learning leader Advanced Academics. Advanced Academics, the content and instruction provider for WOSN, has received regional accreditation from the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation (NCA). Our partnering schools are also accredited and students will receive their diploma from the partnering school in which they are ultimately enrolled.
Who will issue my diploma?
The district in which you are ultimately enrolled will issue the diploma on behalf of the Washington Online School Network program.
Will I attend a graduation ceremony?
In most cases, Washington Online School Network students will graduate with their fellow online students in a special graduation ceremony. Since we have many partnering districts, each will handle graduation in their own way.
How does this program exist?
The Washington Online School Network is a pioneering online program funded by and offered through our partner school districts across the State of Washington.
How does this online education work?
Because all of our courses are online, your class schedule is flexible; class begins when you login online and ends when you log out. Our online curriculum is rigorous, engaging, and self-paced. All of our courses are backed by our highly qualified staff of certified teachers who are available via instant message, phone, or email. We also offer a 24/7 student support environment so that you can get help when you need it.
When do I attend class?
Just as in a traditional school, students must engage in their coursework every day of the regular school week and show weekly progress. Students may log in to their courses any time of the day or evening. Failure to attend courses regularly may result in withdrawal from the program.
How quickly can I move through the course?
Our courses are semester-length courses. You must complete your courses within the regular course term length to receive credit.
What is the schedule like?

What is the cost of taking online courses?
The Washington Online School Network offers its courses at no cost for students who meet the qualifications of the program.
How can it be offered at no cost?
Students enrolled in the online program are still considered public school students. The State of Washington uses the same funding for traditional students as for its online students; therefore there is no fee for taking online courses for most students.
Is online learning for me?
The flexibility of online learning adds a unique level of responsibility. To succeed, you must be a self-directed learner, sufficiently self-motivated to manage your own learning schedule, and must have a basic grasp of Internet navigation.
Are there any age restrictions?
Yes, only students under the age of 21 are eligible. Please see the age requirements for the specific WOSN program you are interested in.
How many courses must a full-time student take?
The full-time requirement for each school may differ however, as a general rule, most full-time students will take a minimum of 12 courses (per school year).
Can I take classes part-time and still be a part of Washington Online School Network?

What grade levels does the Washington Online School Network serve?

Can students with IEPs (Individualized Education Plans) participate in the program?
The online learning experience will not accommodate all IEP students. We evaluate IEP applicants on an individual basis to ensure the opportunity for the student's success.
I don't see my district listed as a partner of Washington Online School Network. Can I still participate?

Who is my teacher?
Your teacher for each course is a Washington state-certified teacher who has experience teaching online courses. Your first introduction to your teacher will be in a welcome phone call once your enrollment is approved. Your teacher will give you an overview of the course and answer any questions you have.

What do I need to do to succeed in a Washington Online School Network course?
When you take an online course you need to prepare yourself as you would for any course in a classroom setting. Key differences are that your teacher is online and not face-to-face, and your lessons are on a computer. In an online course, time management is critical to success because most activities can be accomplished asynchronously, which means you don't necessarily have to be online at the same time as your instructor or other students.
What materials are needed in order to take Washington Online School Network courses?
All of the courses offered by the Washington Online School Network can be taken 100% online so there is very little need for any additional materials, except for some Advanced Placement courses. All you truly need to begin your coursework is Internet access and a computer.
